For forty years, owner Don Hemond has built a solid reputation as a custom woodworker and home improvement specialist. Don was also the property manager for six years at the Boys and Girls Club of Providence. His wife, Sarah, works full time as an administrator for a nonprofit agency and assists Don with the marketing aspect of the business. Sarah also enjoys helping Don design, build and sell small furniture and gifts at craft shows and farmers' markets.
The Hemonds are committed to providing quality service to the local community. They believe that a reputation as an honest and reliable business is the recipe for success. While others seek to profit by cutting corners, or recommending unnecessary services to customers, the Hemonds believe that a good reputation and consistent service will reap bigger rewards in the long run.
Don grew up in Northern Rhode Island helping his father with his home improvement business. He began apprenticing his father at the age of 10 and has developed a deep knowledge and understanding of running a successful business. Don's love for custom woodworking and business acumen led him to start Blacklab Woodworking. Sarah grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and moved to Rhode Island in 2007 to work as an administrator for Boys Town New England. Don served six years on the Board of Directors of Community Boating Center of Providence. The Hemonds currently serve on the Development Committee for Boys Town New England, are active parish members at St. Mary's Church in Bristol, RI, and a driving force behind St. Mary's 4th of July Float Committee.
